I feel very lucky to say that I have had the privilege of seeing a green woodpecker up close and very personal.
One sunny day while in my living room, signing and numbering prints, windows and doors wide open, a green woodpecker decided to fly in through one set of patio doors, I guess with the intention of flying out of the other patio doors the other side of the room. Well, half way through he/she decided to land on an upright wooden beam right next to me...I mean face to face literally. I was so shocked I looked him/her in the eyes and said 'hello your a green woodpecker' as if it didn't know. It replied with a loud squawk ( probably saying 'and your a silly human, in my way, shift') then flew around the living room several stressful minutes more amongst fifty or more limited edition prints before leaving the same way it came in. A day I will never forget. I'm pleased to say he/she is still around but stays out in my garden helping me remove ants.
So for that reason, I had to capture this wonderful bird in a painting.
The highest quality framing has then been undertaken 'in house' using acid free materials, finally the perfect frame.
